Responsibilities

Be the contact person for all education inquiries via email
Create a 5-10 minute tutorial video at home demonstrating how to conduct a work such as Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik—Allegro which will be shared on CONY’s YouTube channel
Contact prospective New York City schools for participation in the spring 2022 Maestro Juniors Education Program in-school live presentations
1. Presentation is 45 minutes in length and includes the Music Director, Concertmaster, 5 Principal musicians, and the Education Manager who will be the MC for the event
Schedule no less than 3-7 to participate in the Maestro Juniors live presentations
Work with participating teachers or school administrators to prepare for the technical presentation requirements including: performance space, student seating, music stands and chairs, and PA system with microphone and stand
Work with participating teachers or school administrators to prepare the students for the presentation including: access to CONY interactive Maestro Juniors YouTube videos, Google Quiz assessments, teacher directions for student listening reflection projects, helping teachers choose students to conduct the CONY musicians during the presentation, collecting student photo and video release forms, and collecting student exit surveys
MC for each presentation following a script
Follow-up with participating teachers or school administrators to collect all paperwork
Provide the CONY board with a final report of the presentation data
Work with the Orchestra Manager, Music Director, and Board President in the development of the education program, after mentorship with founding Education Manager Shanan Estreicher

Requirements

The Education Project Manager should have the following skills, education, and experience:

General administrative skills including Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word
Able to create semi-professional educational home video tutorials (phone camera is acceptable)
A well-rounded knowledge of classical music history, theory, performance, and conducting
Master’s Degree in music performance, education, or composition
Experience teaching music lessons in private and group, or academic settings

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: Hourly division of duties 1.Presentation preparations a.Contact perspective schools: 5 hours b.Create Mozart conducting video tutorial: 5 hours c.Schedule and prepare teachers/students for the presentations: min 8 hours d.Lead 3-7 presentations: 4-7 hours (including set-up and break-down) e.Follow-up time with participating schools: 5 hours f.Work with CONY admin team in future development of education program: TBD 2.A very rough estimate of required hours is 30-45 hours
