Daniel Campus in Keysville, VA. We are searching for candidates to join our Buildings and Grounds Team and work to provide a safe, clean and hazardous free environment for all students, faculty, staff and the general public.The primary shift for this position is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.The successful candidate will serve as the lead grounds person and outdoor equipment technician to provide a clean and safe environment with a well-manicured campus and well-maintained vehicle fleet. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the grounds, keep grass trimmed to desired height and trim and prune shrubs and plant beds regularly; keep sidewalks, steps, and parking lot clear of snow and litter; maintain tennis courts and ball fields; pick up trash in parking lots and on campus grounds daily; empty outside trash cans as neededVehicle Maintenance: Check state and college owned vehicles daily and fill with fuel as needed; check vehicles for service weekly; schedule any needed services; maintain and service college owned vehicles at scheduled intervals; keep accurate maintenance records and gas logsPreventive Maintenance: perform preventive maintenance tasks as assigned and complete related paper work and documentation in an accurate and timely manner; keep work and storage areas neat and clean; restock supply shelves with new supplies when shipments arriveCustomer Service: consistently demonstrate a courteous, helpful attitude to students, faculty and staff of the College and to the public at large; promptly respond to customer needs; portray a positive work environment for all employees by displaying teamwork and cooperation for supervisors, co-workers and studentsLawn and Ornamental Care: Seed grass and spread fertilizer as needed; mulch and weed flower beds as needed; plant new and replacement plants, shrubbery, and trees as needed; apply proper pesticides and chemicals as neededMaintain current pesticide applicators certification
