Position closed by June 4th. Job Summary: Rivendell School is seeking an inspiring music teacher who is responsible for teaching music education to students from preschool through 5th grade. Helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing instruments, and performing yearly musicals. The music teacher will be responsible for coordinating school-wide weekly singing time, organizing and producing 4 grade-level musicals, and an end-of-the-year, all-school Spring Musical Program. The music teacher reports to the Rivendell Principal on all matters pertaining to the operation of the organization. The music teacher is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all Rivendell students with whom there is contact during the school day. The music teacher is responsible for designing meaningful lessons and establishing a positive classroom environment that promotes creativity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Plan, prep and teach curriculum and lesson plans for PS through 5th grade
- Maintain scope and sequence for all grade levels, based on state and federal standards for music education
- Prepare semester activity notes and report cards for every student in the school
- Prepare monthly content for parents' newsletters and online blog posts
- Maintain bulletin boards and hallway displays of student music work
- Planning lessons on music and music history in accordance with student learning objectives.
- Preparing the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment.
- Recording and reporting on students' progress.
- Ensuring that the classroom is clean at the end of each day.
- Attending faculty and parent-teacher meetings.
