Position closed by June 4th. Job Summary: Rivendell School is seeking an inspiring music teacher who is responsible for teaching music education to students from preschool through 5th grade. Helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing instruments, and performing yearly musicals. The music teacher will be responsible for coordinating school-wide weekly singing time, organizing and producing 4 grade-level musicals, and an end-of-the-year, all-school Spring Musical Program. The music teacher reports to the Rivendell Principal on all matters pertaining to the operation of the organization. The music teacher is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all Rivendell students with whom there is contact during the school day. The music teacher is responsible for designing meaningful lessons and establishing a positive classroom environment that promotes creativity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Skills Needed Familiarity with setup and maintenance of a sound system Ability to set up simple staging and scenery for musicals Curriculum writing and lesson planning without school-based resources Purchase and maintenance of classroom instruments Basic skills on piano, ukulele, and recorder Understanding of music pedagogy and vocal technique for young children Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
