The Creative Arts Division at Western Oregon University invites applications for a part-time 0.49 Non-Tenure Track Instructor/Assistant Professor in Percussion to join the Music department faculty for the 2022-23 academic year with the possibility of renewal. This position is not benefit eligible.
The successful candidate will teach applied percussion, drum set (including jazz styles), percussion ensemble, and teach other classes commensurate with the candidate’s skills in support of program outcomes and undergraduate degree concentrations. Instructional course rotations may include music appreciation, percussion techniques, and general education courses depending on department need.

Master of Music (MM) required for appointment as Instructor with a demonstrated record of accomplishment as a musician.
Doctorate required for appointment as Assistant Professor.
Experience as a versatile musician able to contribute to the department’s innovative curriculum and provide support for repertoire covering diverse styles and genres;
Experience as an active performer in western art music and contemporary styles;
Ability to teach music students at all levels;
Experience teaching and conducting at the high school and/or college level(s) preferred;
Ability to provide support to music teacher preparation programs; demonstrated commitment to student success, recruitment, and diversity, equity, and inclusion;
Comprehensive understanding of the field from historical, aesthetic and practical realms.
Other desirable attributes include experience in marching band/drumline, jazz and improvisation.
Additional Salary Information: The Salary Rate will be Prorated based on 0.49 FTE
