There are cultural activities including various theaters and arts councils offering concerts, plays, and live entertainment, and there are many local festivals held throughout the year.SVCC is currently seeking applicants for the position of Coordinator of Institutional Research & Effectiveness (IR&E). The Coordinator will report to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and support the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning (OIERP) in all related business and operational functions, contributing to maintaining an effective and confidential work environment. The Coordinator assumes the lead role in the collection, organization, and maintenance of institutional and other data, and information used in various reports, publications, and surveys. Strategic planning and accreditation are important elements of institutional effectiveness and, thus, the Coordinator will assist the Director with coordination, logistics, and materials associated with strategic planning, accreditation, and assessment. The Coordinator works with the Director to ensure reporting compliance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Data Extraction, Analysis, and Management:Â Designs, develops, and oversees datasets/databases used for IR&E functions including:Identifying Institutional Effectiveness research needs and developing plans to meet these needsAnalyzing projects for computer applications including studies of feasibility and systems designUsing knowledge of databases to assist areas of the College by generating needed reports for day-to-day operationsUtilizing SAS software for developing reports and generating output in the requested format; Export/Import data at local PCUtilizing Oracle Database to write and run queries for needed dataDeveloping SAS datasets on local PC from query dataLogs and tracks completion of all routine and Ad hoc requests for data/reportsModifies and creates queries using the People Tools Query Manager and writes SQL to extract data from the student information systemResponds to assigned routine and Ad hoc requests for data using the Collegeâs student information system, the VCCS data warehouse, other sources of data, and appropriate systems and softwareCompletes routine and Ad hoc data requests by the specified target datePresents results in a manner that is clear to non-technical personnel and in appropriate format consistent with IR&E standardsReporting: Supports the reporting function of IR&EDefines, recommends, produces, and analyzes data for a variety of reports, e.g., fact sheets, enrollment summaries, profiles and publications, Fact Book, program review, assessment reportsProvides data and analysis to meet state and federal reporting requirements (including IPEDS, SCHEV, SACSCOC, USDOE), by determining and interpreting what data are required, and using SAS programs to extract the information from a variety of college information systems or by utilizing other research and analysis techniquesProvides data needed to support Strategic Plan, SEM, One Virginia PlansIn consultation with the Director, prioritizes requests for a response to external surveys (e.g., College Board Annual Survey, Petersenâs Annual Survey, and the like), and responds to surveysIn collaboration with the Director, organizes and implements surveys including Great Colleges to Work For, CCSSE, and SENSEServes as IR&E collaborator on Data Dives, dashboards, and other college communicationsSurvey Research: Â Assists Director in design, administration, analysis and reporting of recurring and Ad hoc surveysDesigns and administers surveysCollaborates with the requestor(s) to determine survey project requirements and carries out the projectEnters data from surveys administered by paperAnalyzes survey resultsPrepares and presents survey results in a manner that is clear to non-technical personnel, appropriate for the audience, in a format consistent with IR&E standards, and according to scheduleExtracts data for the IOTA course file for the course evaluation process. Uploads files to secure website. Collaborates with IOTA support to correct errors. Responds to student concerns through email. Explains course evaluation results to facultyInstitutional Effectiveness:Assist with coordination, logistics, and materials with strategic planning, accreditation, and assessmentAssist in monitoring accreditation and compliance reporting and timelinesCoordinate planning for program outcome assessment plansAssist in planning for professional development events and External ReviewsOffice Management:Ensures that the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness is well organized and efficiently runMaintains organized physical and electronic records and filesPrepares purchase requisitions and maintains purchasing databasePrepares and submits service requests, supply and equipment requests, travel forms, and reimbursement vouchersObtains price quotations for the purchase of equipment, supplies, and other resources as neededProvides current budget summariesResponds to correspondence, voice-and e-mail messages in a timely mannerAnswers questions and resolves problems efficiently and courteouslyProvides assistance, as needed, with correspondence and mailings for IR&EOther duties as assigned
