The Director of Individual Giving leads the SPCO’s individual giving program, overseeing the individual giving team in their work to meet the SPCO’s fundraising goals for individual donors, and leading efforts to deepen relationships and expand the SPCO’s community of individual supporters. This position manages the Governing Members advisory board and its related activities and committees, with administrative support from the Development Assistant, and directly manages the Governing Members Annual Fund campaign, holding responsibility for achieving fundraising goals for the division. This position also manages the SPCO’s legacy giving program. In addition, the Director of Individual Giving leads the work of the SPCO’s Board Governance Committee and maintains the organization’s bylaws, and leads the measurement and reporting of progress relating to the organization’s strategic imperatives. Primary Functions and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -
Leads the work of the board’s Governance Committee, including developing meeting materials, working with the committee chair and leading meetings -
Manages Governance Committee activity and reporting to the Board, including giving presentations and leading discussions at the Board level -
Works with the Individual Giving Manager to ensure the accurate tracking of board and Governing Member prospects -
Works with staff and volunteers to identify and recruit prospects for the board and Governing Members -
Manages evaluation processes for the board and Governing Members -
Maintains documentation of bylaws for the organization and provides guidance around interpretation and enforcement of bylaws. Leads periodic review and revision of bylaws, as needed -
With Chief Community Value Officer and Chief Patron Development Officer, works with the Board and Governing Member Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force to raise the cultural competency and diversity of the SPCO’s Board and Governing Members -
With oversight from the Chief Community Value Officer, leads the measurement and reporting of progress toward the goals of the SPCO’s strategic imperatives, ensuring proper oversight opportunities for the board and Governing Members in this work Governing Members Program -
Manages the Governing Members program, establishing program goals and developing annual work plans in alignment with the work of the Board of Directors -
Oversees planning of all Governing Member special events, committee meetings, and forum meetings, including developing event and meeting content, giving presentations and leading discussions, and coordinating with other SPCO presenters, with execution support from the Development Assistant -
Leads Governing Member committees, including development of meeting materials, in coordination with committee leadership, and presenting and leading discussions at committee meetings -
Leads efforts to identify and recruit new Governing Members, as well as onboarding and orientation for new Governing Members, with administrative support from the Development Assistant -
Develops and oversees program budget and expenditures -
Oversees the Development Assistant in maintenance of member lists, attendance records and committee rosters, and maintenance of public-facing and promotional information for the program Individual Giving Program Leadership -
Responsible for meeting Governing Members Annual Fund campaign goals, including developing cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategies, and directly soliciting Governing Members -
Develops solicitation plans for Chief Patron Development Officer, Managing Director and President, board members and Governing Member chair(s) -
Responsible for timely acknowledgment of gifts from Governing Members, with administrative support from the Development Assistant -
Oversees Annual Fund Manager in ensuring Annual Fund campaign goals are met for IndiTF division (donors giving $1,499 or less), including playing an active role in relationships with vendors -
Oversees Annual Fund Manager in planning and execution for Annual Fund donor stewardship programs -
Oversees Individual Giving Manager in ensuring Annual Fund campaign goals are met for Indi$$ division (donors giving $1,500+ who are not Governing Members or Board Members) -
Serves as a solicitor for major gifts across donor divisions -
Coordinates with Chief Patron Development Officer in solicitation plans for restricted and special project gifts from Governing Members Donor Prospecting and Patron Development -
Maintains a portfolio of prospects to generate new major gifts -
Oversees Individual Giving Manager in the work of prospecting for new major donors to the SPCO -
Oversees the Individual Giving Manager in management of the cross-departmental Patron Development Team; serves on Patron Development Team and contributes to overall patron development strategy Direction of Digital Fundraising Strategies -
Leads development of web and digital fundraising strategies, including development of fundraising strategies focused on SPCO Concert Library users -
Oversees Annual Fund Manager to ensure a comprehensive web and digital giving strategy is in place for the broad base of SPCO donors and is continuously improved -
Manages legacy giving budget -
Identifies legacy giving prospects and maintains tracking of legacy giving prospects, notifications and realized gifts -
Serves as primary point of contact for legacy donors, working with donors/representatives of their estates and the Finance department to coordinate receipt and allocation of planned gifts -
Directs the work of development staff and volunteers assisting with legacy giving activity -
Oversees Annual Fund Manager in legacy giving direct mail and broad-based promotional plan, including development of legacy giving materials and incorporation of legacy giving messaging in fundraising, marketing and ticket materials, as appropriate -
Oversees Development Assistant in acknowledgement of legacy gifts, and manages overall recognition of legacy gifts -
Oversees Development Assistant in administration of Charitable Gift Annuity payments -
Plans Encore Society stewardship events and any special events or seminars designed to educate donors about legacy giving, with support from the Grants and Events Manager, Annual Fund Manager and Development Assistant -
Partners with Chief Patron Development Officer and Director of Development in developing overall fundraising strategies and working with the Board Development Committee -
Serves as an SPCO Liaison - provides personalized attention and support to assigned patrons -
