JOB SUMMARY: Lead, develop, and implement the strategy for the museum’s digital learning and engagement experiences both online and onsite. This includes providing technical and creative leadership in the development of digital initiatives, growing and engaging our online communities and web properties, adapting strategy across platforms to create a unified visitor experience, and ensuring alignment with institutional goals. Responsible for overseeing production of narrative video, online workshops, demonstrations, and related materials for virtual learning. JOB DUTIES: - Collaborate with Senior Director of Marketing & Engagement and Director of IT, as needed, on strategic planning and budgeting for all online and related activities
- Create and maintain dynamic and interactive content for the museum's web site
- Manage the schedule for content and contributors for all museum web and video channels
- Lead strategic planning, content creation, story mining, and execution for all GEM web and video channels
- Oversee and monitor Dryden Theatre and Nitrate Picture Show web channels
- Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Google Analytics for all online activity, and for communicating these reports as needed
- Work with Dropforge and Director of IT to ensure timely, efficient, and effective maintenance and upgrade of the Drupal Core, and other related components
- Collaborate with the Engagement and IT departments to ensure that the website and all online environments are well planned and documented, thoughtfully laid out, commented, and within the overall strategy of the museum
- Lead production of virtual tours, collaborate with artists, curators, and Digital Asset Coordinator to develop content and publish. Look for new opportunities to use in creative ways.
- Maintain the museum mobile app, including story mining, recording, editing, and publishing audio tours for exhibitions
- Work with curators, exhibitions staff, and IT to envision, create, and maintain digital interactives
- Lead production of narrative video content, including story mining, project management, script development, editing, and release
- Supervise Historic Process Specialist and Videographer.
- Oversee historic process program; develop annual schedule, investigate new opportunities and collaborations for outreach around historic processes
- Oversee workshops and video budget
- Collaborate with Historic Process Specialist and Museum Educator during initial production of lesson plans, educational materials, and webinars. Train Museum Educator on technical aspects of production.
- Aid Head of Exhibitions and Programs with virtual programming, including creation of online events, ticketing, technical event support, and moderation as needed
- Support and train staff who work on the museum’s website and other digital tools, as needed
- Create and execute surveys to learn more about audiences, analyze and present data from surveys across departments and integrate into future strategy
- Stay up to date on opportunities and challenges faced by the non-profit, museum, and associated industries as it relates to technology, including accessibility
- Identify digital opportunities and suggest projects involving the web, mobile, and beyond. Work with Engagement and IT staff to implement.
- Perform other responsibilities/projects as assigned by the Senior Director of Marketing and Engagement.
- Work environment is an office setting with moderate to light noise. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling a maximum of 35 pounds.
