The Department of Performance and Communication Arts at St. Lawrence University seeks a colleague for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance with the potential to renew for up to three additional years. We seek teacher-scholars committed to inclusive teaching in the liberal arts to join and expand our transdisciplinary curriculum that emphasizes theatre, performance, rhetoric, and communication. We welcome colleagues committed to concerns of social justice, civic engagement, and systems of power, privilege, and oppression. We look forward to collaborating with colleagues who possess strong pedagogical skills with particular attunement toward equity-minded teaching practices. The teaching load is 3-3 or 2-3 with a directing release. The position begins August 15, 2022. The successful candidate will teach at least one of the department’s two core performance courses (Introduction to Theatre or Beginning Acting). The successful candidate will also develop upper-level courses in their area of specialty to expand the department’s offerings. Desired areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, non-Western Theatre, Black, Latinx/e, or Asian/Pacific Islander theatre and performance traditions.
