This is an a 9-month non-tenure track appointment, renewable based on Dean's approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
The Dance instructor provides essential training and support to students in the Dance Program at the University of South Carolina. Responsibilities include teaching a 4/4 course load per semester, participating in departmental planning, advising, recruitment, attending departmental meetings, and supporting departmental events.
Courses covered may include but are not limited to: all levels of contemporary/modern technique, all levels of ballet technique, pointe technique, choreography, improvisation, and composition. Choreographing for departmental concerts and mentoring student choreography showcase performances may also be considered a course assignment. Secondary expertise in teaching dance history, non-western dance forms, jazz, tap, hip-hop, introduction to dance, dance technology, video/screen dance, dance anatomy, and/or dance studies/theory also desired.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications : An M.F.A. in Dance Performance, or a bachelor's degree and five years of experience as a professional dancer in one or more of the following forms: Modern, Contemporary, or Ballet. Full/Part Time: Full Time |
