The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an adjunct position in the Voice Department at the Peabody Preparatory commencing with the Fall semester of 2022. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled and dedicated voice faculty as part of a vibrant and active department committed to helping all students achieve their potential; we embrace the novice musician and the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in vocal performance and/or theater, with experience teaching both novice and more experienced performers across a variety of musical genres and styles. Additional opportunities may exist to develop this position according to departmental needs, and candidate qualifications and interest.
Teach weekly teen Acting for Singers class at the downtown Mt Vernon campus. This skills-based class is designed to enhance students' expressive and presentation skills as well as introduce stagecraft techniques and tools.
Be available for individual dramatic coaching as needed.
Participate in/assist with end of-semester presentations; attend occasional faculty meetings as needed.
Other appropriate duties as assigned
With approximately 2,500 students passing through its doors every week, the Peabody Preparatory is Baltimore's premier community school for the performing arts. It is open to students of all ages and levels of ability, with offerings ranging from early childhood classes to programs for adults and professional musicians. The Peabody Preparatory shares space with the Peabody Conservatory in downtown Baltimore and has three satellite campuses in the communities of Towson, Annapolis, and Howard County, MD.
Bachelor's degree in music, theater, and/or education required.
Master's degree or equivalent experience and training preferred
Experience as a singer, actor, and/or director across a range of musical styles, including classical as well as Broadway/contemporary
Experience teaching singers without prior acting experience
Strong communication and organizational skills
Independent transport to all Preparatory campuses.
Familiarity with online meeting software and technology a plus
