Department: Jefferson Public Radio Salary/Rate: $70,000 -$80,000 @ 1.0 FTE FTE: 1.0 Position Summary: The Program and Operations Director is JPR's senior programming manager and a member of the JPR management team. The Director is responsible for developing and managing the program schedules of JPR's three radio networks – News, Classical and AAA – consistent with JPR's mission, values and audience goals. The Director manages all radio operations/production, engages in community outreach, supervises JPR music staff, works with JPR News Director to integrate local news content into JPR programs and oversees FCC compliance. Minimum Classification Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Three years of experience in radio programming and/or broadcast operations
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations during evening and weekend hours
Preferred Qualifications: - Five years of experience in radio programming and/or broadcast operations
- Programming/operations experience in a public radio environment
All Listed Duties: Program/Content Development:
- Develop program schedules, including: evaluating new acquired programs, managing relationships with national organizations/networks and developing new local content.
- Work with JPR music directors, to develop, design and execute locally produced music programs.
- Develop and produce program promotion elements, including: air copy, recorded spots, web posts, newsletter text, and social media posts.
, Operations & Production:
- Manage daily broadcast operations of three JPR networks, including: developing and maintaining automation playlists and logs, preparing local content for broadcast, coordinating special coverage, and managing external program delivery through the Public Radio Satellite System (PRSS), PRX, and other methods.
- Manage NPR and other network database and interconnection systems, such as Content Depot and Station Connect.
- Create and produce radio spots, including: promos, station announcements and underwriting credits.
- Host music programs as needed when regular hosts are away
, Management:
- Develop and oversee Programming departmental budget.
- Schedule and supervise music staff and co-manage news magazine hosts with JPR News Director
- Oversee production of FCC Public Issue Reports and Sound Exchange reporting.
- Coordinate technical needs and functions of studios with JPR engineering staff.
- Attend management team and other staff meetings.

- Participate in the design and implementation of on-air fundraising campaigns
