URSULINE ACADEMY OF DALLAS JOB DESCRIPTION TECHNICAL DIRECTOR/TECHNICAL THEATRE INSTRUCTOR The Auditorium Technical Director is responsible for supervision and implementation of all production elements, including but not limited to lighting, sound, and set design and construction; of all events and productions at the Ursuline Academy Auditorium and other performances that may take place on campus. The Technical Director ensures safe working practices and facilitates repair and maintenance of Auditorium resources and equipment. Essential to the position is a strong work ethic centered on excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships and communications with administrative staff, artistic parties (directors, designers, guests, etc.), and students and faculty. Will also provide technical assistance and training for other events as needed. The Technical Theatre Instructor must be qualified to teach at least the following classes: Light and Sound Design, Set Design, and Stagecraft. Must have a thorough knowledge of technical theater and related theater equipment, including but not limited to:
Preferred Education: Ursuline seeks a candidate that has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in technical theatre. Experience in theatre rigging and fly systems is a must. Although not required, certification in theatre rigging would be preferred. In addition to classroom responsibilities, full-time faculty at Ursuline Academy serve as advisors, actively participate in non-academic student activities such as moderating clubs, chaperoning events, and student supervision, and enthusiastically pursue professional development opportunities as they join a Catholic, independent school culture.
