Job Description: Position Summary :
The Multimedia Producer is responsible for providing video/multimedia services and equipment in support of the university's marketing, communications and educational video needs.
Collaboration is a fundamental component of this position and this department, and the multimedia producer will work as part of a team in producing video and multimedia content for the university. The job will routinely include shooting, editing, compressing and posting video for the web and the learning management system.
The ideal candidate will be capable of managing the production process from start to finish. They will be responsible for organizing all resources needed for a video shoot, scheduling studio time, working directly with faculty and staff and ensuring that the finished media works is appropriately branded, works properly and is available to the appropriate audience.
The multimedia producer will be able to adapt to changes in schedule or resources and have a passion for good storytelling, regardless of the subject matter. An understanding of how and when to use video, graphics and animation to effectively communicate is an important component of this position. Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage assignments from ideation, scripting, recording, editing, project development, pre-production, field production to in-house studio and post-production.
- Create and/or edit raw video into a finalized format for a variety of web, LMS, broadcast and other communication projects and outlets.
- Determine audio, music and visual effects necessary to complete videos, arranging video clips and multimedia into sequences using editing equipment.
- Transcode raw digital video into editable file formats, organizing and archiving footage; maintain and catalog all productions.
- Set up and operate audio/video equipment (e.g., microphones, lighting, video and still cameras, etc.).
- Manage inventory of all audio/video equipment, as well as scheduling repairs and maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot and train other staff on a variety of equipment.
- Serve as the in-house video expert for the university.
- Make recommendation for purchases and repairs for digital media equipment.
- Attend meetings to review scripts and raw material to create a shot list based on value and contribution to project outcome.
- Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running of editing projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Education Minimum: Bachelor's degree in film, video, motion graphics or related field. Experience
Minimum: - One to two years as a videographer and editor.
- Fluency with video editing and multimedia technologies.
- Proven experience and knowledge of shooting, editing and producing video projects.
- Experience with shooting and lighting video (studio, Green-screen and storyboarding).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite and/or Apple Video Editing Suite.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Skills

- Understanding of editing file structures and AV formats and compression.
- Demonstrated competence in working with audio and video management platforms.
- Advanced skills in the use of technology applications.
- Ability to implement graphics and titles and ability to create original graphics/animation.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of cameras, file formats, codecs and their proper handling in pre- and post-production workflow.
- Passion for visual aesthetics and storytelling.
