Wells College Theatre Program invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Acting and Directing to begin in the Fall of 2022. We seek an enthusiastic collaborator who can bring innovative, inclusive approaches to teaching and has a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity. The ideal candidate will bring a professional record in directing, performing, and developing new works, and can encourage connectivity between current Wells College Theatre students, alums, and professional theatrical artists.
A successful candidate will have the ability to teach courses in acting, directing, management, and other technique-based courses. They will also direct and produce two theatrical productions a year, as well as assist in publicity and front of house duties for all additional program productions.

MFA in Acting or Directing from an accredited institution or university
Experience in acting and/or directing in regional or professional theatre
Experience in teaching at a college level with scholarly potential, demonstrated commitment to diversity and cultural competence through the use of multicultural pedagogies
Professional or educational experience in production and arts management
Administrative experience, including budgeting and curriculum development
Essential Job Functions:
Teach three courses per semester (9 credit-hours)
Oversee the curriculum, production season, and budgets for Wells College Theatre Program
Advising and assisting students in an academic and professional level; this includes, but not limited to, senior thesis, internships, and professional networking in and out of the classroom
Support the college through participation in admissions events, service on faculty committees, and community engagement and outreach
Statement of teaching philosophy in which the candidate addresses their experience in teaching culturally and academically diverse student populations, and developing an inclusive classroom environment.
