JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Technical Director, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Film and Digital Media Department. The support involves classroom assistance for the smooth operation of technical facilities and equipment related to instruction. This position focuses on upkeep and repair of media equipment, general facility maintenance, facility security, and special project support. This position provides backup assistance in the Film and Digital Media Equipment Checkout Lab. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Salary Information: Salary Range: $28.03 - $35.01 / Hourly. Employee Classification: This is a Career appointment Job End Date: None Work Location: UC Santa Cruz Main Campus Union Representation: TX Job Code Classification: 007359 (BUS TCHL SUPP ANL 2 TX) Travel: Never or Rarely JOB DUTIES 30% - Media Systems Installation and Maintenance Perform functional testing and evaluation of Digital Presentation and Capture Systems used daily in Classrooms, Studios, and general use spaces. Perform installation, calibration and repair of technical equipment and facilities including Digital Cinema Projection, Cloud ingestion of classroom lectures, Motion Capture stages, Audio Mixing rooms, editing rooms, and theaters. This would include but is not limited to: testing sample media and media planned to be used for instruction/special events, cleaning and testing mechanical functionality of video and audio systems, upgrading written signage and directions for use. Cabling and installation of Technical racks and enclosures. Make minor repairs when possible and inform the Technical Director of maintenance needs and potential problems. 30% - General Facility Support and Maintenance Facilities security, supervision of student staff, provide general upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance of classrooms and general use spaces, utilize a relational database that serves to schedule and organize the use of space reservation requests, minor facilities repairs when possible, and inform the Technical Director of maintenance needs and potential problems. 20% - Technical Support for Instruction and Departmental Events Respond to requests for assistance from multiple constituencies, assist customers with operational use of installed Digital presentation and capture equipment. Routine and non-routine review of class technical systems, set up and respond to urgent requests. Can be required to provide onsite support for events and classes outside of business hours. Make repairs when possible, and inform the Technical Director of maintenance needs and potential problems. 15% - Backup Support Perform as a backup person in day-to-day administrative and technical support of the Film and Digital Media equipment checkout lab and general support to students. 5% - Special Project Support Work on special projects within the scope of the primary duties.
