West Chester University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for a non-classroom faculty-ranked, licensed psychologist or counselor position in the Department of Counseling & Psychological Services (The Counseling Center). This 9-month full-time, tenure-track, non-teaching, Assistant Professor position will begin August 2022. The mission of the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (The Counseling Center) is to promote the optimal health of all currently enrolled WCU students through the provision of quality and culturally competent mental health services and education for the campus community. This non-teaching faculty position is primarily responsible for providing mental health counseling to the West Chester University student population, presenting with a range of psychological concerns. The candidate must be proficient in providing short-term individual treatment, group therapy, crisis work, and outreach programming across campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to the diverse needs and backgrounds of WCU students and the ability to collaborate with department counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other University health care professionals. Responsibilities include: - Providing psychological counseling to students.
- Providing short-term individual treatment, group therapy, crisis work, and outreach programming across campus.
- Collaborating with department psychologists, counselors, psychiatrists, and other University health care professionals.
- Engaging in ongoing scholarly activities such obtaining or maintaining professional licensure/certifications, professional publications, and presentation.
- Serving the University and the community through participation in various committees.
- Supervising graduate-level trainees.
- Additional clinical work will be expected on a rotating basis within the department during the summer months with extra compensation.
- Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Licensed as a Psychologist or Counselor in Pennsylvania or Pennsylvania license eligibility (License must be obtained within 6 months of appointment). Preferred Qualifications - Clinical experience in a University Counseling Center setting.
- Demonstrated experience providing short-term individual treatment.
- Experience working with a group therapy.
- Experience providing outreach program.
- Experience providing on-call services.
- Experience providing clinical supervision to practicum students/colleagues.
- Demonstrated experience handling a crisis.
