The Croft School – Founding Part-Time Music Teacher (South End, Boston)
Start Date: August 2022
About The Croft School
The Croft School organization is a young, high-quality, independent school organization. We have opened and operate two growing and acclaimed independent schools in Providence, RI, and Jamaica Plain, MA, respectively. We are opening a third school in the South End neighborhood of Boston in September 2022.
Our schools provide an engaging, innovative, child-centered program to its students and a unique parent-oriented experience to its families, all within a tight-knit, diverse, and joyous environment.
Our school in Providence currently serves Kindergarten - Grade 3 students, and will grow into a Kindergarten - Grade 8 school over time. Our school in Jamaica Plain currently serves Preschool - Grade 1, and will grow into a Preschool - Grade 6 school over time.
The Croft School in the South End will build upon the foundation and success of these two sister schools. The school will open with a Preschool (Age 3) classroom and a Pre-Kindergarten classroom. The school will subsequently grow one grade level at a time until it matures as a Preschool - Grade 6 school. Our lower school campus will be located within the former Stella Restaurant building.
The Croft School is seeking an exceptional Founding Part-Time Music Teacher to lead and teach the school’s twice-per-week music classes as well as to support our extended day enrichment programming.
This individual will work two days per week (Mondays & Wednesdays OR Tuesdays & Thursdays) from approximately 1:30pm-4:30pm. From 1:30-3:00pm, this person would teach a music class to our Preschool students and a music class to our Pre-Kindergarten students. In addition, this individual would lead a small group music class from approximately 3:20pm-4:05pm.
All Croft teachers are empowered to design and deliver an outstanding student program in alignment with the school’s focus on student-centeredness. In the case of the music teacher, the individual who fills this role will have broad discretion in crafting a vocal and/or instrumental music education program which captivates students’ enthusiasm for musical arts; exposes students to a wide array of music theory and practice; and helps students begin building important musical skills.
The ideal candidate will be committed to building deep relationships with their students and their families, as developing close-knit, trusting connections are at the heart of The Croft School.
