The University of Minnesota Morris, Division of Humanities seeks a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Music (Jazz); 1-year, full-time, nine-month, renewable temporary position. This position will report to the Division of the Humanities Chair.
Duties/Responsibilities: Providing leadership in our distinctive jazz ensembles and combos; teaching arranging and an applied area; organizing and coordinating the annual Jazz Fest in collaboration with campus partners; and offering other courses in music, such as theory or jazz history, consistent with the needs of the university and one’s qualifications and experience.
Required/Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in jazz studies or a related field preferred; candidates who are ABD or who have completed a master’s degree will be considered. Candidates with their doctorate by date of appointment will be appointed as assistant professor/lecturer; an ABD or masters will be appointed as teaching specialist. At least one year of college teaching experience is preferred.
