The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for two tenure-track, Assistant Professors in the Department of Dance beginning August 2022.
Terminal degree required. A depth of technical practice and pedagogical skills in ballet or modern or contemporary styles of movement and experience teaching advanced, pre-professional dance majors. Experience in choreography and a committed practice to exploring, advancing these processes and practices to support shifting constructs in 21st century dance. Interest in contemporary aesthetics of movement, cross cultural connections, and emerging trends in dance performance, choreography, and education. Demonstrated abilities in teaching in higher education, and a record of creative and/or written scholarship.
Position carries a 3/3 course teaching load with responsibilities for required courses in the BFA in dance performance and choreography. We encourage applicants with experience in diverse cultural perspectives. The department is seeking individuals with a specialty in recognized pedagogies or emerging forms. Additionally, experience in dance education, dance history, or dance science as secondary interests, and an interest in global perspectives, innovation, and collaboration. Service to the department and active engagement in creative activity and scholarship expected.
