CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Kingsborough Community College is seeking an Adjunct Senior College Laboratory Technician for the 2021-2022 academic year to perform responsibilities in the areas of lightning, sound, scenic carpentry and general program administration. This position is within the Department of Communications and Performing Arts and reports directly to the Director of Theatre Arts. The Theatre Arts Program has four full-time faculty members, a full-time Technical Director and a team of six to ten part-time faculty. The program is housed in excellent theatre facilities on a 76-acre beachfront campus.
Responsibilities, as approved by the Director of Theatre Arts, may include:
Perform technical theatre duties related to light hang and focus.
Assist in the areas of scene shop maintenance and scenic carpentry.
Assist lighting and sound designers during load-in, performances, and strike.
Maintaining records regarding lighting sound, and theatre supply inventory.
Assist with general theatre program administration.
Setting up, maintaining and organizing theatre laboratory spaces.
Provide additional technical theatre support for theatre classes and student projects.
Evening and/or weekend hours may be required during technical rehearsals, load-in and strike.
High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. This position also requires the ability to direct train, and supervise others.
$37.00 - $49.08 per hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
