The Providence Country Day School seeks to hire a part-time after-school Director for two Upper School theater productions during the 2021-22 school year. The ideal candidate is dynamic, creative and brings a high level of enthusiasm to each rehearsal. Candidates should have experience working with students and with directing plays and musical theater productions. This is a part-time role to cover scheduling, coordination and leadership of all rehearsals for the winter play (November - February) and the spring musical (February-May). This position will also work with the full-time Chorus and Drama Teacher, who will serve as the Producer, to cast both shows.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Collaborating with the full-time Chorus and Drama Teacher (Producer) on the production of the winter play (February 4-5) and spring musical (May 13-14).
Participating in the audition and casting process for both productions.
Scheduling, organizing, and leading all after school rehearsals for both productions, including choreography and vocal music for the spring musical.
Collaborate with contacted Technical Director on design plans and during the final weeks of the production
Participate in production meetings with the full-time Chorus and Drama Teacher (Producer) and the contracted Technical Director.
Specific rehearsal times will be determined with guidance from the Chorus and Drama Teacher. Rehearsals are scheduled 3-5 days per week, and typically run between 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. depending on the season. Rehearsals during the week leading up to each production will extend into evening hours.
