West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Office of Digital Learning & Innovation within the Academic Affairs Division invites applicants for the position of a Learning Experience and eTextbook Designer for an eighteen-month assignment.

The Learning Experience and eTextbook Designer provides comprehensive support and services to the Pennsylvania Alliance for the Design of Open Textbooks (PA-ADOPT) project funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The position provides consultation to faculty on course/eTextbook design and pedagogy; supports faculty in the development of digital course/book content using D2L, Apple Pages as well as other technology tools; collaborates with instructional designers on developing, documenting, and testing online courses and textbooks; and helps coordinate data reporting.
Under the guidance of the Senior Instructional Designer, the Learning Experience and eTextbook Designer collaborates and consults with faculty on the effective use of instructional design strategies, web-based resources, e-learning technologies, and LMS for digital course/textbook development.
Supporting faculty on the development of digital course/textbook materials utilizing appropriate tech tools
Assisting faculty with recording, editing, and transcribing audio/visual materials
Assisting faculty with the maintenance of digital courses/textbooks, Conducts quality assurance reviews
Developing and conducting training for faculty on all aspects of digital textbooks
Creating and maintaining faculty guides and documentation for digital textbooks
Collecting and analyzing data related to PA-ADOPT open textbooks, identifies issues, and recommends solutions to enhance student experience
Developing and maintaining PA-ADOPT website
The ideal candidate demonstrates experience in Student Services; excellent customer service, communication, problem solving and troubleshooting organizational, and interpersonal skills; and a commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or Computer Science).
Demonstrated experience of LMS (D2L/Brightspace preferred but not required)
Demonstrated experience with learning technology tools such as proctoring services, lecture capture, audio/video editing, etc.
Demonstrated experience in Instructional Design principles and models
Demonstrated eTextbook experience
Demonstrated experience with current and emerging e-learning technologies including but not limited to eLearning tools, mobile apps, and social media tools
Demonstrated experience using video conferencing tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
Customer service / support experience
Excellent benefits package including undergraduate tuition fee waiver for self and dependents. The salary range is $51,104 - $58,403.
