Henderson Community College serves approximately 1,900 credit, dual credit, adult education and workforce development students annually in a three-county region of Northwest Kentucky. The college also serves several counties in Southwest Indiana, offering in-state tuition. Henderson is one of 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). The college and its faculty and staff are focused on student and community development and success. HCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Teach eight English and/or other courses (Reading/ Humanities) in the discipline per year
Develop syllabi, course materials, exams, etc.
Use computer technology for communication and instruction; be familiar with using an LMS like Blackboard to use in instruction
Work closely with other faculty in the discipline
Assist part-time instructors and substitute for absent instructors as needed
Serve as the HCC Writing Center Coordinator
Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
Faculty responsibilities include advising, committee work and other institutional service, community service, and professional development. The successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to student learning and will be receptive to using active and engaged teaching methods and technology both online and in the classroom. In addition, candidates should demonstrate an interest in the mission of the comprehensive community college concept.
Master's (or doctoral) degree in English or Master's degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English, or equivalent.
Preference will be given to a candidate who also has credentials to teach Reading and/or humanities (e.g., Theater, Philosophy, Art, Music, etc.)
Previous teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
