Southside Virginia Community College is seeking a dynamic individual to accurately present the collegeâs financial position through timely and accurate recording of transactions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The position serves as accountant for grants and other specially-funded programs and assisting with Foundation accounting by accurately recording and reporting financial transactions while providing excellent customer service.
Core Responsibilities include: Preparing spreadsheets with grant budgets, expenditures and projections. Preparing reimbursement requests in timely manner. Processing journal entries to spread expenditures once reimbursements are received. Preparing cash request. Working with grant directors and grantors to expend all grant funds properly. Provide reports to grantor as stipulated per grant award or upon request. Reconcile grant revenues & disbursement monthly and as requested. Maintain files and documentation for audits. Provide any accounting requests to all Grant Writers for SVCC.
Track grant receivables from the Foundation and all grants to provide timely information to the Financial Services Managers and VP of Finance. Provide any accounting requests to all Grant Writers for SVCC.
Ensure the adequate coverage of cashierâs office and Triage desk. Assist students and cashiers with the Student Information System (SIS). Serves as 1098-T coordinator for college and submits requested information in timely manner. Responds to inquiries.

Established in 1970, SVCC is one of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System. The Christanna Campus near Alberta and the John H. Daniel Campus near Keysville serve ten counties and one city - the largest community college service region in the state. In 1985, SVCC opened the Southside Virginia Education Center. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate degrees.
