One part-time position available. Drake University invites applications for a collaborative pianist with the expertise to accompany both classical and musical theatre genres for the Voice Area in the Department of Music. This position begins fall of 2021.
The accompanist performs as collaborative pianist for voice lessons and rehearsals, studio classes, voice departmental recitals, performances for student degree recitals, and vocal juries. Additionally, the pianist may be requested to accompany for competitions, masterclasses, auditions, and provide recordings.
The individual must demonstrate commitment to and record of successful technical/professional performing experiences with singers, and deep knowledge of the operatic repertoire from the XVIII century to contemporary. Additional desirable assets include excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
This position is a part-time, hourly appointment. Hours are dependent upon the availability of the pianist as well as the studio needs of the voice faculty. This is a term appointment for 1 year.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree, 1-3 years work-related experience; Master of Music or professional work experience that demonstrates skill; and demonstrated experience in performing with classical singers. Strong work-related related experience in lieu of education will be considered.
