The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key staff member who plays a meaningful role in promoting the School of Drama's programs and mission to prospective students as well as the theater and entertainment industries. This position serves as the marketing lead for the school's annual season (approximately 20 productions) utilizing a multimedia and grassroots marketing strategy to develop audiences within the Pittsburgh community and beyond.
The successful candidate collaborates with the school's Leadership to develop a robust and visually exciting brand strategy.
Additional responsibilities of this position: implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive marketing and communications program in support of the School of Drama brand, developing and coordinating advertising, promotional and admissions materials (print, electronic publications, social media, and web outreach). The successful candidate also has responsibility for season selection administration, collaboration with the CFA Assistant Dean for Communications on special events, and supervision and oversight of the school's Box Office. Other key roles include: writing and distributing press releases, developing and managing relationships within the local and national Theater Arts communities, alumni, and others as needed, maintenance and oversight of the School of Drama Website.
Core responsibilities include:
Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive regional and national program in marketing and communications for the school, working closely with the Head of the School, faculty, staff, and the College of Fine Arts Assistant Dean for Communications.
Sustaining and developing a comprehensive media relations program through print, social media, and online outlets.
Designing print and electronic publications for the promotion of School of Drama events.
Promoting and marketing all School of Drama sponsored events.
Supervise and collaborate with the School of Drama Box Office staff
Developing and coordinating advertising, promotional and admissions materials including print, electronic publications, social media, and web outreach.
Developing and maintaining communication pathways among the School of Drama, the College of Fine Arts, the University and area arts organizations.
Supervising School of Drama student assistants.
Collaborating with other University departments on campus-wide activities.
Editor-at-Large for the annual School of Drama Magazine.
Fostering and maintaining relationships with alumni.
Administrative support for the annual Season Selection Committee (plays/performances) and the annual student Showcase Events.

Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience: 3-5 years of marketing and/or communications experience required
Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign & Photoshop
Previous Wordpress or equivalent content management system and Basic HTML coding skills highly desired
Strong written and communication skills
