Deschutes County is currently accepting applicants for a Behavioral Health Specialist II – Civil Commitment Monitor with the crisis team. This position will monitor post-commitment treatment and services to children, adults, and seniors who have been placed on civil commitment. Services provided will include advocating for client’s needs and safety, coordinating with treatment providers to find appropriate placement options, developing pertinent treatment plans, and monitoring client’s progress. Services are provided in a variety of settings including clinic, hospital, jail or community. Performs civil commitment evaluations for involuntary hospitalization on occasion. This position requires the application of specialized knowledge in the area of behavioral health diagnosis, interventions, recovery-focused and client-centered treatment, as well as civil commitment statutes. This position provides support to the crisis team by providing crisis interventions and risk assessments for non-committed individuals experiencing a crisis when necessary.
Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy or a behavioral science field; AND one (1) year of experience in the behavioral health field; OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
There are registration/certification requirements under the Mental Health and Addiction Counseling Board of Oregon (MHACBO) that apply to Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) hired by Deschutes County Health Services (DCHS). This only applies to QMHPs who do not possess current licensure or are currently pursuing licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPC. Registration and/or certification fees will be paid by DCHS, if the candidate selected for the position meets the criteria for registration/certification.
