General Purpose: The Associate Director, Financial Analysis will report directly to the Senior Director, Finance & Administration. As a senior member of the business office team in the Provost Office, this position will help maximize fiscal efficiency and be responsible for the analysis, management, and administration of unrestricted, endowment and/or restricted funding assignments; responsibilities will further include monitoring sources and uses to ensure compliance with Provostial guidelines, University policies and/or donor restrictions, and will partner with the Senior Director, Finance & Administration to build long range financial plans and models that facilitate university wide strategic decision making. This role will collect and maintain a high volume of data, record commitments, oversee funds transfers and journal entries and be a conduit for major gifts processing that facilitates Provost approval; the person will also analyze balances and deficits, review and reconcile expenditures and become proficient in university policies. Critical to this role, is the ability to work and present information to executive leadership in both a team environment and independently, to multitask, effectively manage critical processes, direct analytic tasks, explain comprehensive reports in easy to understand terminology while keeping within deadlines and remaining responsive to various business needs and technology changes that support the general objectives of the Provost and University leadership.

Required Education and Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and eight years progressively responsible experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Mathematics or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and analysis.
Demonstrated experience in managing relationships, building coalitions and influencing outcomes. Ability to work in a confidential, consultative, complex environment and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a setting of competing priorities.
Demonstrated experience with complex strategic planning and resource allocation, driving for results and successful outcomes; demonstrated superior negotiation skills.
Proven supervisory, managerial, and leadership skills, with focus on both team building and mentoring. Demonstrated success in developing people and organizations.
Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving and effectiveness in a complex organization. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to be flexible with the ability to apply critical thinking.
Excellent communication skills: the ability to effectively connect with colleagues in a diverse multi-cultural environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers, leadership and subordinates. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Customer service skills orientation.
Preferred Education and Experience: Background in Higher Education, in an Academic Division or Provost office. Experience with restricted funding sources, gifts and sponsored research funding. Experience with Faculty hiring practices/policies, Workday HR modules, Gift and Endowment Funds Management/Analysis and reporting tools; Filemaker Pro, Workday a+, Power BI, Tableau, using statistical computer languages (e.g., SQL).
