The Department of Humanities within the School of Arts and Sciences at Regis College seeks a part-time accompanist for the 2021-2022 academic year to accompany the Glee Singers and the Alumni Chorus in rehearsals and performances. The Alumni Chorus falls within Institutional Advancement under the Director of Alumni Relations. Rehearsals for Glee are typically 2.5 hours/week; rehearsals for the Alumni Chorus are 2 hours/week, with the two groups often rehearsing and performing together. Up to 11 additional hours may be required the week of a concert performance. Students in Glee earn academic credit, and classes in the fall begin September 7, 2021. The course provides the foundation for choral singing on an academic as well as an experiential level, with the group performing publicly on and off the Weston campus. The repertoire includes a broad range of musical styles, including classical works, folk songs, spirituals, show tunes, and popular music. It is expected that anyone hired for this position would work in-person on the Weston, MA campus.
Under the supervision of the course instructor/director, accompanies the members of the Glee Singers and the Alumni Chorus in rehearsals and in concert performances.
Lead sectional rehearsals at direction of the course instructor/director.
May be asked to sing as part of a cappella musical selections in rehearsal and in performance.
The accompanist may give constructive feedback to students and Alumni Chorus members under the guidance and direction of the instructor/director.
May be asked to accompany the group for specially scheduled performances outside of end-of-semester concert performances.
Minimum requirement: bachelor’s in music performance or collaborative piano; an advanced degree is welcomed.
At least 2 years of experience accompanying choirs.
Experience working within a higher education setting a plus.
Demonstrated experience with leading rehearsals.
Demonstrated ability in accompanying in a variety of musical styles and a range of musical genres.
Experience singing with choral groups is highly preferred.

A flexible schedule that allows the person hired for this position to accompany the choral groups for specially scheduled performances outside of end-of-semester concerts (liturgies, Founders’ Day, Veterans Day, etc.) is highly preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Classrooms/rehearsal and performance spaces equipped with a piano/keyboard.
Extended periods of time at a piano/keyboard requiring eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, and aural acuity.
