Rider University invites applications for a part-time Library Technical Assistant. The successful candidate will: order scores, books, and recordings in a cost-effective and expedient manner; confer with library faculty and staff regarding specific item ordering; check in items as they arrive; prepare items and invoices for processing; monitor acquisitions budget; enter gift items into the library system and prepare them for processing; search out rare and out-of-print titles for general library use and class reserve; monitor orders that have been placed; claim outstanding orders; and receive all standing order items and assist with new standing orders. Covers circulation desk and other duties, as assigned.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree as well as computer skills, with programs such as Word and Sierra, but also in online maneuvering and searching. Knowledge of music is necessary in understanding the intricacies of each musical score and in recognizing comparative quality in scores and recordings. Basic knowledge of the major European languages is necessary in deciphering foreign websites and understanding book and score titles. Excellent communication skills are required as phone calls, emails, and letters are often necessary in dealing with vendors and publishers. Organization and attention to detail skills are required.
Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Experience with Library Management System is preferred.
