Friends Select School, a Pre-K-12th grade Quaker independent school in Center City Philadelphia, is seeking part-time, after school teachers for the 2021-22 school year. The after school program runs from 2:30-6:00pm, Monday through Friday. There are additional hours over school vacations/closings as well as the opportunity to substitute teach within the school.
The after school program's focus is on Pre-K-5th grade and ideal candidates can bring their own unique interests into those classrooms with engaging, age appropriate activities. Whether it is knitting, theater, painting, music/film production, gaming, or coding we are looking for creative/reliable people to staff our program. Individuals with a current lifeguard certification are also needed.
We are a classroom based program, every teacher is responsible for a daily homeroom, which means consistency and attendance are very important. Classroom management skills are crucial as well as flexibility, reliability and creativity. After school teachers are expected to create and run activities for students as well as activities that have been assigned to them.
Applicants should feel comfortable teaching both in person and online (zoom, google suite). All after school teachers will be expected to follow the school's health and safety protocols in regards to COVID-19.
Prior experience working with school age children is a necessity. Completed federal and state clearances are required before the start of the school year. Please submit a resume, cover letter and three professional references (references will only be contacted for finalists) to Joe Hardy, Director of Continuing Programs, via the school's website.
