The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) is located at the heart of the Indiana University Bloomington campus. Whether as a home away from home for the IU community, or a gateway for visitors, the IMU welcomes all. Each year thousands of students, conference attendees, wedding guests, visiting relatives, faculty, and more enjoy the amenities the IMU has to offer.
Union Board Films, the country's longest-running college film series, has been screening films to the IU community since 1914. Most films are shown at the IMU's Whittenberger Auditorium (on the first floor), however many screenings this season are taking place outdoors.
Indiana Memorial Union Films staff work to uphold the legacy of the country's longest running college film series. Working as a member of a 4-5 person team, staff are responsible for the set-up, running, and tear down of Union Board films that take place each weekend. Films staff provide excellent customer service to guests during movie showings and consistently work to troubleshoot technical issues that arise during film set-up. The Indiana Memorial Union is looking to hire two new energetic student staff to join the Films team for the 2021-2022 academic year. Employees are expected to have ample availability on weekend evenings and nights.
Films employees will be staff of the Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC). Opportunities for additional hours may be available as SILC events, Late Nite, and other traditional events arise.
Setup and oversee weekly film showings in the Whittenberger Auditorium and Prebys Conrad Amphitheater.
Uphold the excellent legacy of the country's longest running college film series.
Navigate beINvolved online platform to help check-in students and community members to movies.
Run film projector, DVD player, and computer to show previews, pre-movie music, and movies.
Complete post-film evaluation forms to communicate attendance and feedback about each showing.
Work collaboratively with fellow staff members to troubleshoot technical issues.
Follow health and safety guidelines and enforce policy during movies.
De-escalate guest concerns and issues to ensure a positive movie-going experience.
Inventory and distribute movie snacks to guests.
Provide opinions about movie choices while serving as a member of Union Board's film committee.
Transport equipment and set up outdoor films at the Conrad Prebys Amphitheater as needed.
This position will begin in Fall of 2021 with an option to continue in Spring 2022 after a mid-year performance evaluation. If hired, opportunities to work in Summer 2021 will be available.

Working Conditions / Demands
Ability to move/transport objects up to 50 pounds.
Employees can expect minimal risk of COVID-19. Physical distancing and masks are expected at a minimum. Minimal interaction with guests is requested.
