Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is looking for a Multimedia Designer in our Public Affairs department. CSHL is a world-renowned innovator in science research, education, and communication. The Multimedia Designer will play a pivotal role in creating compelling and engaging creative assets that contribute to the success of the CSHL brand while bringing campaign and marketing initiatives to life. You will use your multimedia skills across video, podcasting, illustration, and web.
-Audio: Produce and develop audio projects from start to finish, including scripting, recording, editing, compiling, finding supplementary audio assets, and all other aspects of production for podcasts -Web: Basic understanding of web development and UX (HTML, CSS, JS). High attention to detail and good eye for design & layout, and interaction. Infographic design & development a plus. -Animation: 2D animation using After Effects. Knowledge of 3D animation is a plus (Maya or cinema 4D), Web animation: HTML5, Adobe Animate, or Greensock GSAP – Support design work and illustrations/infographics -Uploading of multimedia assets to third-party sites such as YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, iTunes, Google Play, among others
-Knowledge of HD Video Production
-Knowledge of various compression schemes.
-Usage of After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required.
EXPERIENCE: One to three years of related experience.
Technical Skills ? Creative Video Editing & Color Grading – Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere able to work comfortably with equipment including DSLRs, lighting kits, lavalier microphones, etc.
? Sound Recording – Familiarity with wireless lavalier, shotgun techniques. Deeply experienced in studio techniques ? Understanding of video codex ? Sound Editing and Mixing – ProTools, Logic Pro & UA Luna, deep understanding of music and sound ? Knowledge and experience in applicable software and computer applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro ? Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; including effectively presenting information to non-technical partners, operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities; ? Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills; ? Flexible, positive, collaborative, action-oriented attitude and professional approach; ? Ability to multitask projects under the high pressure of frequent and multiple deadlines and deal with interruptions in current work in progress to handle higher priority jobs.
