Hawken School is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual committed to teaching the total child. Since Hawken School has a long-standing tradition of a flourishing, performance-based performing arts program PS-12, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills will be critical factors in our search. Teach general music to students in Kindergarten through Grade 5
Prepare and lead grade level public performances
In collaboration with colleagues, oversee and direct an afterschool stage musical production
Serve as a member of the Performing Arts team, responsible for developing, planning, and implementing grade level curricula and measuring and reporting student progress
Perform other non-teaching duties as assigned by the Director or Head of School

Bachelor’s degree in Choral or General Music Education required. Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated competence in elementary curriculum development, instruction and pedagogy
Experience with Responsive Classroom and project-based learning preferred
Understanding of the developmental needs of elementary level learners
Joyful enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, good humor, and a team spirit necessary for working within a dynamic
department serving elementary school learners individually and in groups
Focused work in vocal music, Music Learning Theory, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics preferred
Facility with dynamic educational technologies
A willingness and eagerness to assist in the life of the School
Experience in dealing and collaborating with colleagues and parents.
