The part-time Upper School Vocal Arts/ Middle School Glee Teacher is a professional, energetic, innovative and generous artist with teaching experience at the upper school (grades 9-12) and the middle school (grades 6-8) levels. This part-time position will teach one section of a non-auditioned Glee class that includes movement (assisted by a dance teacher/choreographer) with an emphasis on Pop and Broadway. The Vocal Arts/Glee classes meet part-time and during end of semester performances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for course curriculum
Lead class in end of semester performances/productions
Have a commitment to assisting in the assessment, growth and success of the Vocal Arts Program.
Work cooperatively with the department, faculty and staff throughout the school in striving for educational excellence.
General involvement as a faculty member and in assessment of student learning.
Support and continuous quality improvement through participation.
Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to learning process.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
Other duties as assigned
BFA, BSM or BA Degree required
2 years prior Upper and Middle School teaching experience
Strong piano sight-reading skills and the ability to improvise in a variety of styles is desired
Emphasis on instruction of other techniques, tools and ideas.
Dynamic personality and enthusiasm for teaching

Understanding of and commitment to teaching and motivating students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
