Director of Bands – Bellevue West High School – Bellevue, NE
Bellevue West High School’s Instrumental Music Program is regarded as one of Nebraska’s most diversified and successful programs. Its concert bands, marching band, jazz bands, percussion program, and color guard/winter guard ensembles make it one of the most active programs in the state.
Bellevue West has approximately 230 students participating in the instrumental music program. The role of all of Bellevue West’s co-curricular music groups is to provide students with an opportunity to expand their musical knowledge, technical proficiency, and performance experience.
The core of the Bellevue West band program is the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.
The Thunderbird Marching Band is recognized as one of Nebraska’s elite marching bands and has a national reputation for excellence. The marching band consistently places 1st at the state marching competition, while also competing in regional and Bands of America competitions. Most recently, the group was recognized as Class Champions at a 2017 BOA Texas Regional competition. The group also qualified as a semi-finalist at the 2016 BOA Grand Nationals competition.
The Jazz Band program provides students a unique insight into the improvisational art of jazz performance. The ensembles compete at various jazz festivals and perform throughout the community.
*Must have or have the ability to acquire a Nebraska Teaching Certificate with an appropriate endorsement
*Experience working with large instrumental music program, including management of staff and parent volunteers
*Ability to design various elements of a competitive marching band program
