The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music is seeking applications for the part-time position of Artist Lecturer in Music Education.
Candidates should exemplify excellence in music education, with an emphasis in choral and/or instrumental secondary experience and possess a strong interest in the preparation of a new generation of music educators. They should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in pre-service music education certification.
Part-time, academic year adjunct position beginning on August 30, 2021.
Teaching duties and responsibilities:
Secondary Methods (Choral/Instrumental) with Practicum
Introductory course in educational psychology and theory related to music education
Supervision of student teachers in secondary and/or elementary placements
Monthly participation in Music Education Division meetings.
Master's degree in music education
Public school experience that includes secondary choral and/or instrumental ensemble teaching
Proven commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Experience with a collaborative, team-based approach to teaching
a doctoral degree in Music Education
successful collegiate and secondary teaching experience
participation in adjudication, conference presentations, workshops
contribution to literature in the field
