Stone Ridge is seeking an Middle School General Music Teacher to begin August 16, 2021.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. The Middle School General Music Teacher is responsible for teaching classes in support of the Middle School Music and Performing Arts Programing, and in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. S/he will teach a General Music curriculum to students in grades 5-8 and model commitment to the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education. In addition, s/he will teach and/or support possible Middle School music electives as assigned and needed. The General Music Teacher will assist in preparation of formal and informal performances, informances, and liturgies and prepare students as needed for special events and masses. S/he will assist with Liturgical Music for Middle School masses and prayer services and offer support to Campus Ministry and the Music team as needed for All-School Liturgies.
The Middle School General Music Teacher will maintain communication with parents regarding student progress through progress reports, interim reports and report cards as required by the administration. S/he will communicate with parents as needed by phone, email and in person, as required for assigned conferences and at other mutually agreed upon meeting times. In addition, s/he will create and maintain a course page(s) on Inside Stone Ridge
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Teaching experience or experience working with children
Piano proficiency and accompaniment Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with educational technology as it applies to teaching and learning
Strong organizational skills
Candidates who hold master’s degrees are desired, but it is not a requirement of the position. In addition, training in Orff-Schulwerk, Kodaly, Dalcroze is highly desirable, as is experience with liturgical music.
The ideal candidate is an anti-racist educator who has experience teaching in independent and/or Catholic schools or in public and/or public charter schools.
