Position Description: Director of Alumni and Family Engagement

 Domains:

• Conceives and implements a multi-faceted Alumni and Family Engagement program designed to increase financial support from and deepen engagement with College Alumni, Precollege Alumni, College Parents, and Precollege Parents.
• Serves as a liaison between Manhattan School of Music’s Advancement Office and the Alumni Council, a group of alumni volunteers dedicated to improving and developing greater connections among College alumni and the School. Identifies and recruits new alumni volunteers to become members of this advisory
• Creates strategic cultivation and stewardship events for alumni and parents, including alumni reunions on campus and in-person and virtual events in U.S. and international cities with large numbers of parents and alumni, particularly in Asia. Oversees all event logistics and evaluates event effectiveness and
• Utilizes virtual and social media platforms and other distance-based technology to enhance communication with and to better engage international alumni and
• Working with the Associate Director of the Annual Fund, manages targeted fundraising campaigns to parents and alumni, including year-end appeals and special giving
• Explores the possibility of creating College Parent and Precollege Parent Councils to increase support and engagement.
• Manages communications with and strengthens outreach to alumni and parents, incorporating the use of social media, the School’s website, and special
• Utilizes research tools to identify major gift parent and alumni prospects and craft strategies to effectively cultivate alumni and parent prospects, including families in
• Monitors alumni news and oversees the dissemination of alumni updates and accomplishments with the MSM Community through social media platforms and “Success Stories”
• Partners with MSM’s Center for Music Entrepreneurship to create and market engaging career development programs and networking events for alumni. Identifies prominent alumni to participate in panel discussions and to share their experiences with students, fellow alumni, and family members through on-site and virtual
• Oversees the transition of and develops an engagement program for recent
• Ensures that Net Community, an online alumni management system, is fully utilized to gain a deeper understanding of alumni relationships and for

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in music, the arts, or
• At least five years of experience in the Advancement/Development Office of a college, university, or private school in alumni and/or parent Experience working with international parents and alumni is a plus.
• Proven track record of success in fundraising, including identifying and securing new gifts from parents and/or alumni and in developing long-term
• Enthusiasm for music education and an ability to create a compelling case for alumni and parents to support Manhattan School of
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
• A high-level of comfort working with all levels of internal and external constituents, including College and Precollege Alumni and Parents, donor prospects, trustees, faculty, and
