Lake Highland Prep's comprehensive art curriculum offers students dynamic instruction in the fine and performing arts. Students begin their artistic journey in the Lower School. In the Upper School, 9th-12th graders experience conservatory-like programs with advanced classes and competitions in a variety of visual and performing arts media. We are intensely proud of the artistic accomplishments of our talented Highlanders. Many of our graduates pursue their artistic passions in college, and some are called to careers in the arts. Direct and manage the band program at Lake Highland Preparatory School. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities. Plan activities to achieve positive recognition of the band program.
- Directing bands in the lower, middle and upper schools. This would include extracurricular groups like jazz band, marching band and pep band. - Music Theory (AP and Intro) - Refine ability-based performance requirements for all ensembles - Utilize appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect understanding of various learning styles and needs of the students. - Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. - Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. - Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, administrators, and teachers. - Work with administration and colleagues to develop a recruitment plan at all grade levels. - Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within department. - Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment - Maintain a budget - Other related duties as assigned
