The Eastern Michigan University School of Music & Dance invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer - Artist/Teacher of Guitar. The successful candidate will teach applied guitar to a studio of undergraduate and graduate majors and minors. Additional duties include recruiting and occasional performing/teaching at department events and with faculty ensembles. Preference is given to candidates who have experience and expertise in teaching guitar styles such classical, jazz, rock, and pop. Expertise in electric guitar desirable. This part-time appointment (salaried only, no benefits) will begin in the Fall 2021 semester.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.
Perform related departmental duties as required.
Minimum qualifications include a Master of Music degree or equivalent (preferably in guitar performance) and significant applied guitar teaching experience. College or university teaching experience is desirable. The successful candidate should have an established record as a professional performing artist on guitar.
