Internal Job Number: P02846CT Description: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Library Technician 3 position for the Library at Oregon State University (OSU). This position performs copy, complex, and original cataloging of government documents and maps using advanced knowledge of library and information procedures, services, and resources. The Library Technician 3 performs specialized technical and administrative duties which require a high level of non-routine decision making, judgment, and independence, advanced/specialized technical and public service expertise, and a library-wide perspective of procedures and services. The Library Technician 3 contributes to the Cataloging and Government Documents Unit by cataloging government documents and maps from various publishers and coordinates the acquisition and withdrawal of federal documents through the Federal Depository Library Program and the Oregon Regional Federal Depository Library Program as a partner regional depository. The person in this position applies a variety of information from specialized standards, guidelines, tools, databases, and various other resources. This position is responsible for new, adaptive, and retrospective cataloging of federal documents in various MARC bibliographic formats, with emphasis on serials, maps, and monograph formats, in order to provide user access to collections and the online catalog.

AND Advanced proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications, e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management systems. Some positions may also require in-depth knowledge of specialty area(s), e.g., original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, serials management, ILL management, government documents, image resources, music. Requirements :
Type: This position is in a fragrance free office/library environment with exposure to fluorescent lighting. This includes work with damaged materials that may include, but are not limited to dust, dirt, and on occasion, mold and pests. The work is occasionally physically demanding with periods of standing, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling loaded book carts. Much of the work schedule involves working at a computer workstation. The typical business hours for the department are Monday to Friday, 8AM – 5PM.
