Collegiate School is seeking a Choral Director to work with our Middle and Upper School students. The Choral Director is responsible for teaching choral classes for grades 5-12. In addition, duties will include performances for all choral ensembles grades 5-12, serving as the music director for the fall Upper School musical, and leading student choirs for all holiday and formal school occasions. The Director will collaborate with the performing arts faculty to develop the choral music curriculum as part of an evolving performing arts program. This is a full-time benefited position.
General responsibilities include:
Teaching classes in the Middle and Upper School
Preparing for all choral performances in Middle and Upper School
Serving as part of a music direction team for the Upper School fall musical
Leading choral groups for all formal school occasions
Supervise Upper School music clubs
Fostering a climate of respect for each child as an individual
Identifying and pursuing professional opportunities that enhance and extend one’s teaching
Serving on committees and engaging in professional group work as necessary
Participating in all required School events
Other duties as required
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
A Master’s degree in Choral Music and/or Music Education is preferred
Advanced-level piano proficiency
Experience working with a cappella groups
Working knowledge of popular music
Knowledge of music writing software, such as Finale
Knowledge of music recording software, such as GarageBand or Audacity
Strong commitment to students with all learning styles
Ability to inspire students’ love of learning and critical thinking
Enthusiasm for professional growth, academic excellence and creative teaching
Passion for music education
Commitment to broad participation in school life
Cross cultural competencies
Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
