String Program Director
Homer OPUS
The String Program Director is responsible for carrying out a comprehensive string education program in Homer, Alaska with the goal of building community and helping youth become better learners and better citizens. This position carries out two different types of programs, a school-based program for kids in kindergarten through second grade, and an after school string ensemble program for youth in 3 rd – 12 th grades as well adults.

Duties: Teach classroom strings for grades K-2 in two elementary schools. Lead a small string youth orchestra with groups of varying levels with an emphasis on Suzuki group violin instruction. This is an opportunity to take the helm of a growing musical movement in a small Alaskan town, and additional duties will be determined by the candidate’s interest and skills and in collaboration with the Homer OPUS Board of Directors.
