FTE: 1.0 Position Summary: The Division of Business, Communication and the Environment is seeking a Director, 12-month, full-time, benefits eligible administrative position, who reports directly to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a key member of the President's Executive Council. The Director is responsible for the Division's effective operation by providing leadership for the academic, personnel, financial, and research aspects of the Division and each program within the Division, in alignment with the vision and mission of the University. The Division includes the following majors: Business Administration, Innovation and Leadership, Communication, Digital Cinema, and Environmental Science and Policy; and is represented by approximately 1,000 students, 34 ongoing faculty, 3 staff members, and approximately 37 contingent faculty teaching 1-4 courses per year. Additionally, the Division includes the Small Business Development Center and The Farm at SOU. The Director participates in setting the direction for the Division, allocating resources to support the goals of the Division and evaluating progress towards those goals. The Director provides leadership and oversight in securing resources, consults with the Program Chairs and faculty, with University-wide administrative bodies, and reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, representing the Division to both internal and external audiences. The Director is active in community relations including, but not limited to, regional development and small business activities. Southern Oregon University is a public liberal arts institution of approximately 6,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The surrounding area is known for cultural offerings such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Ashland International Film Festival, and the Britt Music Festival. The Rogue Valley is also renowned for outdoor activities such as hiking, snowboarding, and fishing.
