Assistant Professor - Head of Stage Management

Position Summary: The Theater Department of the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, seeks a dynamic and collaborative stage manager to head its stage management program. The ideal candidate must be able to lead curriculum development, participate in strategic planning, and work well with other members of the faculty and staff regarding all decisions that affect the stage management program. Mason Gross School of the Arts will give preference to candidates that prioritize work in anti-racism, anti-sexism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Responsibilities include teaching 2-3 courses per semester, mentoring stage management students, advising on productions, and managing department shows and events as necessary. The head of stage management will also play a central role in the program's national recruiting efforts and in maintaining an active network of alumni. Qualified applicants should have extensive professional and teaching experience, with an established network of peers, a strong knowledge of theater history and theatrical current events, and experience in multiple media, such as theater, dance, opera, musical theater, industrials, and television/film. Minimum Education and Experience: MFA degree in stage management or equivalent, ideally with several years of teaching in higher education.
