Artistic Associate
Payomet Performing Arts Center
The Artistic Associate is responsible for conducting research, producing schedules, budgeting, contracting and managing artists’ projects including arranging travel and housing, hospitality, scheduling staff and volunteers, among other duties. Responsibilities: - Work collaboratively with the Executive EAD and Production Manager to plan, manage and execute presentations within the curatorial artistic program - Work with the EAD Director and Production Manager to manage artists’ projects, budgets, schedules, etc. Hire, train and manage of temporary staff and volunteers for Payomet programs. - Manage and update internal calendars. Process artists’ contracts and payments, working with payroll and accounting to gather essential paperwork. Arrange artists’ travel, housing, ground transportation and hospitality within budget. Create and update detailed schedules for each artist including production and outreach activities. - Serve as liaison for artists during performances. Assist with visual art exhibitions, residencies, public programs, education and outreach programs and special events. Work with marketing team to gather text and images from artists and managers for use in promotion. Work with development and event staff to assist with planning and managing performances or other artists’ involvement in fundraising events. Work with development staff to document and acknowledge all in-kind donations and sponsors. Manage program interns, delegate work and track performance. - Work with accounting staff to track and report all performance program expenses. Take part in wrap up, reporting, evaluation of all programs. Other duties as assigned. Noted that our main performance venues are tents and an outdoor stage seasonally (5-6 months of the year, May-October) and at various venues throughout Cape Cod from late fall through early spring.

Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in performance or art-related field. Minimum 3 years project management and production experience including knowledge of general A/V and sound equipment. Knowledge of the special requirements and aspects of production and performance of circus arts is not required but helpful, as Payomet runs a circus camp for children in the summer together with creating original cirque performances on the themes of environment, climate change, living wages and social justice. Proven ability to work well both independently and collaboratively while thinking outside the box. Excellent organizational skills. An affinity for math and science. Strong administrative skills with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Google Docs, etc. - Experience with managing multiple projects, schedules and budgets simultaneously. - Excellent communication and relationship building skills. Excellent problem-solving skills and flexibility with unusual projects. Cultural competency with a diverse group of artists, staff and community stakeholders. An appreciation for the value of the National Park Service on its own merits and because of our philanthropic partnership with them and location at an abandoned military base located in the Cape Cod National Seashore.Schedule: Flexible hours 4-5 days/week for 8 months of the year and 5 days a week June-Sept with expectation to work some nights and weekends. |
Additional Salary Information: Flexible hours (seasonally) and Benefits will be determined on and individual basis, as we are a small organization working primarily with part-time staff and volunteers
