The Donor Relations Associate reporting to the Associate Director, Strategic Advancement, is responsible for supporting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association in achieving its short- and long-term development goals with a primary focus on stewardship, donor relations, and board relations. Donor relations nurtures and builds lasting relationships between LA Phil and those who support the organization with private gifts. The Donor relations program fosters and encourages private support by acknowledging contributions in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner; recognizing donors in meaningful ways; and reporting to donors in a timely, consistent and accurate manner on the use, impact and financial management of their gifts.  Under the direction of the Associate Director, Strategic Advancement, the Donor Relations Associate supports the LA Phil’s donor relations program and assists with the implementation of all related activities including the preparation of acknowledgement letters, donor reports, donor signage, meeting preparation, drafting communications and other duties as assigned.

Position Elements:

Stewardship and Donor Relations (80%)

• Write and customize high-level acknowledgement letters and guide letters through completion, including drafting, editing, and sending for signature in coordination with Philanthropy Operations. Work with Philanthropy Operations to ensure process is timely, efficient and effective.
• Provide support for Stewardship Communications including the production and project management of materials such as impact reports, annual and endowment reports, customized reports, and video projects in coordination with Philanthropy Communications.
• Coordinate all new donor signage and recognition needs with Hollywood Bowl Operations and the Music Center. Determine when existing donor signage needs to be updated and manage the process of updating.
• Create and maintain customized donor relations strategic plans for high-level donors. Prompt the prospect managers when an action is required and assist as needed.
• Coordinate recognition events such as donor signage unveilings and other customized small events. Work in conjunction with Special Events, the Chief Philanthropy Officer’s office, and other internal partners to execute these events.
• Interface with Philanthropy Operations to track and execute gift agreement deliverables, including reports and pledge payment reminders, and to produce and review donor rolls. Scan and organize gift agreements into the shared drive, Tessitura and the physical files.
• Use donor database to track stewardship activities and report annually on department-wide stewardship and engagement output. Evaluate methods of donor engagement across the department and propose process efficiencies.
• Assist the Associate Director, Strategic Advancement with long-term, cross-departmental projects that advance key stewardship objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Board Relations (20%)

• Provide support for meeting preparation including Board meetings, Philanthropy Committee meetings and Governance Committee meetings.
• Draft and edit communications to the Board of Directors as requested.
• Coordinate Hollywood Bowl lease event ticketing benefit program for Board and Pool Circle subscribers.
• Provide strategic support to the Board Liaison/Sr Gift Officer as assigned.
