The select candidate would have a 3-3 appointment: teach two courses and design one show for University Productions (projections, lighting or scenery) each term; a course is defined as 2 or more credits. The ideal candidate would teach an introductory level of a Digital Media course and a Specialization course in Projection Design allowing us to introduce digital design techniques across all disciplines within Design & Production. An advanced course in Digital Media could be offered as well. In order to broaden the applicant pool, there is flexibility with what the additional courses would be based on their expertise. Additional responsibilities include advising student designers and technicians, customary meetings, assistance with recruiting, and participation in our annual portfolio review. - Terminal degree; significant professional experience in lieu of a terminal degree may be considered
- Experience with digital media design applications
- Strong background in design rooted in professional performance practices
- Commitment to nurturing a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences as demonstrated through pedagogy, service, and activities
- Ability to relate to and collaborate with students and colleagues in a university environment
- Demonstrated supervisory and collaborative abilities; ability to adhere to production timelines while remaining flexible to the evolving needs during the pandemic
- Superlative organizational practices, time management skills, and communication skills
- Projection design and technology
- Experience with on-line learning environments
- Advanced abilities in ETC product line including ION, EOS, and moving light technologies
- Advanced ability to use and teach Vectorworks
- Ability to teach 3-D fabrication
