Drew University is seeking a Coordinator of Clinical Partnerships and Candidate Assessment in the Teacher Education Department. The individual will develop and maintain relationships with New Jersey public schools and secure placements for clinical internships, a required component of the Master of Arts in Teaching program. In conjunction with this work, the person will supervise and train cooperating teachers and field supervisors. Additionally, the position is responsible for the collection of data related to accreditation, especially data related to clinical work, and the overall coordination of candidate assessment and certification. This is a full-time, 12-month staff position with some teaching responsibilities.
Secure placements and supervisors for clinical interns (20-40 per year), train and oversee supervisors and cooperating teachers, and conduct field orientations for interns and their mentors
Coordinate edTPA and offer workshops for candidates
Create and maintain clinical partnerships, including annual review and signing of MOUs with school districts
Act as certification officer and facilitate candidate applications for state certification
Collect and analyze assessment data, including management of TK20 and support of faculty use of the system, and coordinate efforts to collect and analyze data from the field to support program review and accreditation needs
Teach three courses in the teacher education department per year
Required Skills & Abilities:
Successful applicants must have facility with data collection and analysis and a willingness to learn technological systems that support candidate assessment. They must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with school-based personnel, as well as with field supervisors. The ability to manage personnel, as well as multiple projects, is a key part of the job. Because the program is evolving and growing, the program director appreciates individuals who think entrepreneurially and work collaboratively to develop new systems, programs, and pathways to creating excellent teachers. Applicants should be able to teach in one or more of the following areas: instructional methods, assessment, special education, English as a second language/bilingual education, technology, or content pedagogy.
Education and Experience:
Applicants must have a master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in education or related field and should have experience teaching, supervising and/or providing professional development to teachers. Experience in accreditation and facility with Tk20 is desirable.
